Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
I'm losing face and a bit of interest in Pellegrini. Especially his lack of promoting our younger players.
The recent Carabao cup defeat only involved Nathan Holland for 57 minutes.
Pellegrini has had plenty of opportunties to introduce some of the promising youngsters but has failed to do so. Now again like previuos managers he probably found himself in a position where he will not "risk" playing them as he has to much to lose. We're on a very poor run .A win and a good performance against Newcastle has to be achieved..
I know Snodgrtass put in a good performance against Sheffielld Utd but he's not the answer at 32. We look slow and have to many over 30's in our team. I wouldn't be suprised if we have the oldest playing team in the PL.
Roberto,Ogbonna,Cresswell,Zabaletta,Noble,Snodgrass. None of them are putting in performances that win games. RIce is streets ahead of him and he was in the team before Pellegrini came along.
We need some youthful energy. I'm slightly jeaulous of Chelsea,Arsenal,Man Utd even Leicester bringing on the youngsters. We're supposed to be the "Academy of Football" FFS.

here's a wild suggestion

Pellegrini doesn't think they're good enough yet...

He has shown he trusts them when they've proven themselves I.e Rice/Diangana for example.

Im all for promotion of youth but only if they're at the standard required. If he played youth and they flopped he would take flak for picking them ahead of a first team player.

Couldn't agree more. Johnson was excellent in pre-season imo, by far our best performing full back. But the real mistake was from January onwards - almost impossible to be relegated, yet still no attempt to integrate youth.

Some blame to Sullivan etc too - they should be making youth policy an essential component of the targets they set their managers - they clearly aren't doing that. Until they do that it won't happen.

Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
Johnson has been injured for most of the season no?

Chelsea have been forced to promote youth because of a transfer ban, the players they are promoting also spent last year on loan int he championship for what its worth.

Havent seen much of it from Arsenal and Man Utd other than in Europa league and Carabao cup games where they rest basically their whole starting team so not sure why you're envious?

Leicester i have no idea what youngsters they're playing except a few maybe in the cup games again so not sure what you're getting at again?

Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
Diangana's doing well almost certainly because he's on loan.

He was drifting as a bit-part player for us. When he comes back, I doubt he'll be far off being in the team much more often than not.

I still have faith in El Pel, that he'll turn things around. However, I really do not understand how Holland has not been given a chance. It's not as if the rest of the team are pulling up trees, is it?!

I’m hoping Diangana takes the path of Mount. Good Championship season and then back next season and in the squad.
As said Johnson has been injured as hope he would play ahead of Zabaleta.
Surprised that Holland hasn’t been on the bench to reward his outstanding form ... especially as Pellegrini wants to take Anderson off quite regularly at the moment.

Not sure he rates any of the others that are old enough to be considered. Did I read something about Coventry leaving?
I’d prefer to see him given a chance ahead of Wilshere and Sanchez who are dead and useless respectively

Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
Considering Pellegrini brought in Fornals to add to Yarmolenko, Anderson, Lanzini, Antonio and Snodgrass would suggest he doesn’t feel Diangana or Holland are ready. Given that it is very unlikely that Holland will see much action.

Problem is if we don't use our kids then we have a paper thin squad.

falace
just look at the line up's of all 3 teams
I don't need to write down every player

Every team doing well has hungry young full backs
We have the 2 slowest in the PL in Cresswell and Zabaletta.

Fredricks had been playing his best in the recent games then gets dropped for Zabaletta, ridiculous.

The u23’s play at Swansea this afternoon
If Pellegrini is doing his job he and his coaching staff should be on the coach heading there to watch them.

Just as he should have been at Bramall Lane on the Monday before we played Sheffield Utd to watch them v Arsenal.

What youngsters? Am I missing something? This reminds me of toni martinez alot. Everyone was giving stick to the manager for not using him. He's scored 6 goals in 47 games in portuguese and spain's 2nd league since he left us.

Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
You're judging every young player that ever comes through the academy against Toni Martinez?

Ordinarily I'd trust the managers judgement, but I've just watched him pick the slowest right back in the league to go up against one of the fastest wingers in the league, and leave the fastest right back in the league on the bench.

Still, at least we signed Anderson because of him. Praise the lord.

Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
Obviously not. I'm just implying that it's ridiculous to believe that we have some world beaters in our u23 team just because they are on top of that amateur league.

Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
Zabaleta versus greased lightning is the most perplexing selection in a long time. It makes absolutely no sense in purely football terms, especially when the formation didn't compensate for the disparity in pace in anyway at all.

I'm just hoping Pellegrini has disciplinary or other reasons for this selection, rather than no reason at all.

Eerie Descent 3:13 Sun Nov 3
Re: Pellegrini and his lack of trust in our youngsters.
Sajmo, no one is asking for world beaters, I think we just want to see players who at least look like they give a fuck.
